I’m a fifth-generation Mackay local – my great-great-grandfather, George Hardwick, settled with his family in the Pioneer Valley in the mid-1860’s, and my family have lived in the region ever since. I have four adult children and am the proud Mi-ma of three beautiful grandchildren.
Prior to being elected to Council, I was the Manager of Mackay Funerals and Sarina Funerals for almost 8 years, an after-hours Support Worker at the domestic violence shelter for women for 9 years, and the Service Manager at Mackay Women’s Centre for 4 years. I have also held roles in the financial services industry, real estate, IT, and retail sectors, and been a small business owner.
I’ve had extensive involvement in our community since a young age, demonstrated by my membership of service clubs and not for profit organisations, and participation in charity events. Some of these include: Zonta Club of Mackay (member since 2012), Sarina Lions Club (member since 2012), Rotary Club of Mackay Corporate (Secretary and founding member), Mackay Women’s Services (incorporating Mackay Women’s Centre and the Domestic Violence Resource Service – inaugural Treasurer in 2005, and a Board member for a total of almost 15 years), volunteer with Mackay Fire Special Olympics, Secretary of the Pine Islet Lighthouse Preservation Society, volunteer grant writer for the Trudy Crowley Foundation, volunteer fundraiser and honorary member of the Mackay Men’s Shed, member of Crimestoppers Mackay, and volunteer with the Compassionate Communities movement.
Unlike our opponents, we rely on grassroots supporters to fund our campaigns. Chip in today to help Belinda win Mackay.

ALP Queensland will continue to report all amounts of $1,000 or more to the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). AEC's donor threshold changes annually due to indexation. Please refer to www.aec.gov.au to find out the reporting threshold for donors and due date for lodgement.
Your name and address is required; anonymous and overseas donations are not allowed. Political donations made in a personal capacity are tax deductible up to a certain threshold. Check the ATO website for more information.
Under the Electoral Act 1992 (Queensland) political donations from property developers are prohibited. The Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 allows property developers to make a donation that is used exclusively for Federal Campaign purposes. Further information is available on the ECQ and AEC websites.
It is an offense to make political donations totalling to more than $4,000 for State Campaign purposes to ALP Queensland and more than $6,000 (in total) to ALP Queensland's endorsed Candidates between 1 July 2022 and 25 November 2024. You may request a refund if you believe that you have exceeded the $4,000 cap for the Party and/or $6,000 cap for the Candidates. Alternatively, we may refund you the excess amount within six weeks to avoid breaching the donation cap laws.
